Colorado Foxes striker Wolde Harris, who led the A-League with 17 goals and eight assists (42 points) and earned MVP and Rookie of the Year honors in 1996, has signed with MLS’s Colorado Rapids as a discovery player.

“There is no question that the Rapids have now signed the A-League’s two top players from the ’96 season — Marcus Hahnemann and Wolde Harris,” said Rapids new GM Dan Counce. “Wolde’s pedigree speaks for itself, and we are lucky to have the relationship we do with the Foxes, allowing us to move a player of his caliber into the Division I ranks.”

Born in Jamaica, Harris has represented his national team eight times, mostly recently in World Cup qualifying last fall. He attended high school in Florida (two years) and played collegiately at Connecticut (one year) and Clemson (three years).
