New England Revolution and U.S. forward Joe-Max Moore will sign with English Premier League club Everton, pending approval of his work permit to play in England. “Joe-Max was a tremendous player for our club and he will be sorely missed,” Revolution chief operating officer Brian O’Donovan said. “We respect his decision to pursue the opportunity to play in one of the world’s top leagues and wish him great success. The task for the Revolution now is to sign a player of his caliber to replace him.” Moore, 28, joined the Revolution on July 24, 1996, scoring 11 goals in the team’s final 14 games that season. Injuries limited his playing time in 1997 and 1998, in which he scored four and seven goals, respectively. This past year, Moore led the Revolution with 15 goals and 8 assists. “Joe-Max was an important player not only to the Revolution but to the league as a whole,” MLS executive vice president Ivan Gazidis said. “We are sad to see him depart, but he has a tremendous opportunity to play at one of the most famous clubs in Europe in Everton. His ability to earn a chance to play in the Premier League is clear evidence that Major League Soccer is producing players of the highest caliber. The search to identify a top level player for the Revolution begins immediately.” “I have had a great experience playing in New England,” Moore said. “But I have always dreamed of the chance to play in the Premier League and Everton has given me that opportunity. I will miss the fans that have been so supportive of the Revolution.”
