Devin Barclay, a 19-year-old Project-40 player and U.S. U-20 national team member, has been traded by San Jose to D.C. United. The Earthquakes will swap places with D.C. in the upcoming supplemental draft and will also receive a conditional pick in the 2005 SuperDraft. As the team with the worst record in 2002, D.C. had held the first supplemental pick.

Barclay, an Annapolis, Md., native, has scored three goals and two assists in 35 appearances (14 starts) in his two-year MLS career with Tampa Bay and San Jose. Last season, he went scoreless in 12 appearances (two starts) with the Quakes.
