The Colorado Rapids topped the Columbus Crew, 1-0, on Paul Bravo’s golden goal to finish the MLS Spring Training tournament with a 2-1-0 record. Scotsman John Spencer had a golden overtime opportunity for Colorado (1-1-1), but Columbus keeper Paul Dougherty batted the point-blank attempt away. Two minutes later, Columbus countered with a Brian West-to-Jeff Cunningham combination that Adin Brown dove to bat away. The Crew dominated play in the first half with 11 shots to one for the Rapids. Columbus’ best chance was a penalty kick in the 8th minute of play, when Spencer hauled Cunningham down inside the box. Crew midfielder Robert Warzycha failed to convert the PK as his shot glanced off the left post. Quotable: Colorado keeper Adin Brown: “I’m finally healthy and feel great getting back on the field and building up my confidence. We are playing well and look forward to playing exciting soccer for our fans this season.” March 23 in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. Colorado 1 Columbus 0. Goal: Bravo (Baba) 99.
