D.C. United Notes
A proposal from MLS to play the first game of the D.C. United-Mutiny series in Tampa Oct. 10 instead of RFK Stadium was opposed by team officials. The change was suggested because the NFL Buccaneers play at home in Houlihan’s Stadium Oct. 13. Under the proposal, Tampa would have hosted Oct. 10 and played in Washington Oct. 13…. D.C. United did change the date of its home game from Oct. 11 to Oct. 10, to accommodate the second game of the series. The scheduling means each game of the series will be televised nationally: Oct. 10 on ESPN, Oct. 12 on Univision, and Oct. 16 (if necessary) on ESPN2…. United won the season series against the Mutiny 3-1, winning twice in Tampa. Raul Diaz Arce and Jaime Moreno led the team in scoring against Tampa with two goals apiece; Marco Etcheverry had one goal and four assists…. The playoff series matches the highest-scoring teams in the league: Tampa led with 65 goals, United was second with 62.
