The Washington Post is reporting in its Aug. 3 edition that Doug Logan, the commissioner of Major League Soccer since its launch in 1996, will be replaced in the near future. The report in an article by Post soccer writer Steven Goff and sports editor George Solomon, attributes unnamed sources. According to the article, several investors are worried about the league’s future, noting concern about TV ratings and attendance. “I’m here at my desk and I’m doing my job,” the Post quotes Logan, who had just returned from the Confederations Cup, as saying. “That’s all I’m going to say.” He did not comment on his future. No replacement was named in the article, although ESPN has reported that former NFL Europe executive Don Garber will replace Logan. MLS has scheduled a press conference for 11:30 a.m. (ET) Aug. 4.
