* The Chicago Fire, playing its first nine games on the road while awaiting the completion of its new stadium, notched its first win after a loss and two ties, downing 2005 runner-up New England, 2-1, on goals by Brazilian Thiago and Chris Rolfe. The Revs have scored just twice in four games. Attendance at Gillette Stadium was 11,762, the Revs'รก second-smallest home-opening crowd in 11 years.

* With its 3-2 loss to defending champ Los Angeles, Real Salt Lake has conceded a league-high 11 goals in five games and extended its winless streak, dating back to last season, to 17 games. Jason Kreis had given Salt Lake a 1-0 lead with his 102nd career goal before Landon Donovan launched the Galaxy's comeback by stripping his U.S. team Eddie Pope and stroking home past keeper Scott Garlick.

* FC Dallas striker Carlos Ruiz was benched until the 84th minute of Dallas' 1-1 tie with D.C. United for missing a practice last week. Long distance goals by United's Ben Olsen and Dallas' Ronnie O'Brien provided for a stalemate in the meeting of conference leaders. (Kansas City bumped D.C. United out of first in the East with a 1-0 win at Columbus).

* New name, but still no wins for the New York Red Bulls (0-1-4) who tied, 0-0, at Chivas USA.

* League leading scorer Brian Ching scored his sixth goal in five games in a 1-0 win over Colorado.
