The MLS champion Kansas City Wizards’ season ticket sales for the 2001 season have already exceeded the total number of 2,067 from last year with four full months remaining before the opening kick-offof the new season. General Manager Curt Johnson announced that the organization has now achieved its highest ever renewal percentage for season tickets. The Wizards have renewed 84.3% of their season ticket base from 2000, which is the No. 1 renewal rate in Major League Soccer. Johnson added that the organization has in addition already sold 385 new “full season equivalents” and is well on the way towards its overall goal for total FSEs in 2001. The Wizards’ strongest growth has been generated by existing season ticket holders who are encouraging associates to express their interest in MLS tickets. In addition, the organization has concentrated efforts to enlist as many new corporate and individual season ticket buyers as possible. Many companies who have been long time season ticket holders of other sports in Kansas City are beginning to realize the specific value in having Wizards season tickets as a means to entertain employees and clients. The Wizards sales staff, headed by Ryan Haas, has been hosting regular luncheons around the metro area at which ticket prospects can meet coaches and players and have an opportunity to be photographed with the MLS Cup Championship Trophy. The next opportunity to join the Wizards season ticket holder bandwagon will be at the Wizards Holiday Open House on Wednesday, December 13, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The function will give Wizards season ticket holders their first chance to experience the exciting new Pavilion at Arrowhead located just outside the stadium at Gate “D” at the Southeast corner of the stadium.
