The Metros take their fifth straight victory against the tepid Burn; Chicago glides over the stagnant Rapids; Brian Kamler kayos the Crew in Columbus; and Preki's magic bedazzles the Galaxy.
BEST GOALS: Brian Kamler takes the top prize for a double-cutback dribble that spun around Ross Paule and carved out space to crack a 25-yard blast for the first Revs' goal in their 3-2 win over the Crew.
DaMarcus Beasley scored the Fire's second goal in its 4-0 rout of Colorado by picking Wes Hart's pocket in the Chicago half of the field and racing 70 yards to smash a shot into the top corner.
Preki set himself up for the winner in Kansas City's 2-1 victory over the Galaxy by dribbling through midfield and playing a ball to the feet of Chris Brown. When the return pass arrived, Preki lashed it left-footed low into the net.
HERO: Beasley won a penalty kick that yielded the Fire's first goal, scored the second himself with a superb run and shot, and cut back a ball for Justin Mapp to score the third.
STAT: Only four games were played last weekend yet 15 goals were scored. The average of 3.75 goals per game for the weekend is the highest so far this season and ups the season average to 2.5 goals per game.
BEST ASSIST: Pat Noonan picked up one of his two assists in the Revs' win with a deft outside-of-the-foot flick that Taylor Twellman cashed in for the winning goal.
STAT: Twellman scored in his fourth consecutive game, as did Clint Mathis, who bagged the first goal in the Metros' 2-1 win over Dallas.
BIG SAVES: With the Crew and Revs tied, 2-2, New England keeper Adin Brown stoned Paule and dived to his right to deflect Brian West's low shot. Metros' keeper Tim Howard stopped Jason Kreis' penalty kick with a full-length dive, but Kreis pounced on the rebound to tie the game, 1-1.
STREAKS: The Rapids have lost four straight and have gone 319 minutes without a goal …. The Metros' five-game winning streak matches similar runs in 2000 and 2001 as the best in team history …. Howard's MLS shutout streak was snapped at 292 minutes when Kreis scored on that rebound.
OF NOTE: Ante Razov's pair of penalty kicks in the Fire's 4-0 win was only the third time in league history a player had converted two in the same game. The other players to be spot-on twice are John Spencer in 2001 and Carlos Valderamma in 1996.
