Indiana and UCLA are scoreless at halftime of their NCAA semifinal match in Richmond, Va. The play has been fairly even thus far, if a bit scrappy. Indiana created a few more scoring chances, but the bulk of their shots went straight to UCLA keeper Matt Reis. The Hoosiers nearly scored during a pair of goalmouth scrambles off of corner kicks in the 24th and 33rd minutes. UCLA had several near misses. McKinley Tennyson’s low shot across the goalmouth to the far post in the 6th minute had Indiana keeper T.J. Hannig beaten, but the ball rolled just wide. In the 41st minute Tennyson broke free down the left side and slid a ball past a diving Hannig, but Hoosier defender Nick Garcia cleared the ball away before it reached the goal. The Bruins also had a header go off the right post after a corner kick. Tennyson has received a yellow card for UCLA, while Indiana defenders DiGuardi and Cerroni have also been booked.
