Virginia leads Saint Louis 3-1 midway through the second half of their semifinal match in Richmond, Va. Saint Louis came out with determination in the opening minutes of the half, winning several corner kicks and puttin the Cavaliers under intense pressure. Virginia gradually mounted more attacks of its own and took a 3-0 lead in the 64th minute when Ben Olsen scored his second goal of the match. Ryan Trout made a fine run down the right flank and beat two defenders to the end line at the edge of the area. He then sent the ball back to Andriy Shapowal at the edge of the box, and the senior redirected the ball across the goalmouth to the far post, where an unmarked Olsen blasted it into the net. Saint Louis struck back in the very next minute, when a Matt Leonard of Virginia was called for a handball in the box on a Billiken free kick. Tim Leonard converted the penalty to make the score 3-1 in favor of Virginia. The Cavaliers are without forward Brian West for the rest of the match. West pulled a thigh muscle in the first half.
