Is Eddie Johnson on his way out of Kansas City? Not yet, says Wizards technical director Peter Vermes. “There are about five to seven teams I’ve heard of now that have deals done with Eddie,” he tells the Kansas City Star. “I can tell you, I have not had any official discussions with any team regarding Eddie. That hasn’t taken place, and I would be involved.”

Meanwhile, Wizards coach Curt Onalfo sees a silver lining to the club losing Johnson to a foreign team.  “We want to be a franchise that’s selling players all the time,” he explains. “One, we’re getting money for that, and we can go out and buy more players. And it tells us we’re doing things right … by having the kinds of players that have that kind of value…I don’t have a feeling either way [about whether Johnson stays with the Wizards].”

Johnson has played in MLS for seven years, but is still only 23 years old. He just completed his best season for the Wizards, scoring 15 goals and adding six assists. Johnson was an All-Star and the team’s most valuable player in 2007.
