[OFF THE POST] When Tranmere Rovers hired Dornoch Capital to find a buyer for the club, this is not what it had mind: The U.S. firm put the third division club up for sale on eBay, with bidding starting at $10 million. “We were appalled,” said Tranmere chairman Peter Johnson, who ordered the listing removed. “This is not a second-hand bike we’re selling.”
Tranmere Rovers is coached by former Liverpool and England star John Barnes.
“Putting it on eBay is not the right way of doing it and we would certainly have not let them if they’d asked us, so we’re pretty furious,” Johnson was quoted by AFP. “If they can find the right buyer then he can takeover at Tranmere but it’s got to be the right buyer and I don’t think putting it on eBay is going to find the right buyer.”
