“The home-field edge, regular-season stats and vast playoff experience were rendered meaningless,” for the Houston Dynamo Sunday, writes Bernardo Fallas. All that was left for them to do was rue their bad luck.
“I feel sick to my stomach,” said Dynamo Coach Dominic Kinnear. “I think it’s the most lopsided 3-0 loss I’ve ever seen in my life. You have to score to win games, and that was very evident today [Sunday]. Sometimes you make your own luck. They made a lot of luck, but we didn’t.” Paraphrased more generously toward his opponents: they took their chances and we didn’t.
“It’s just one of those games,” said forward Kei Kamara. “Whatever we did, it wasn’t going for us.” Midfielder Dwayne De Rosario was more tactically succinct: “Their defense stayed compact and did a good job, and we just didn’t finish it.”
