The Honduran U-23 players have called off their strike, agreeing to regroup for the Olympic qualifying tournament in Hershey, Pa. Earlier in the day (April 19), the players announced they would not board the plane to the United States because the Honduran federation had not paid them their $2,000 bonuses each for reaching the final round of TFC qualifying for the 2000 Games. Honduras is scheduled to play the United States in Group D Friday night. The Agence France Presse reported that the team will fly to Hershey, Pa., on April 20 via Houston, Texas. The Honduran federation, which had threatened to suspend the players, has a long history of financial problems. It has promised to pay the players upon their arrival in Pennsylvania.
