The lack of American athletes on Australian national TV has left the U.S. women with a dearth of favorite Olympic moments, but there have been some highlights. Shannon MacMillan: “My favorite moment so far was when Cathy Freeman stood in the middle of the pool of water and lit the Olympic flame. It gave me chills.” Lorrie Fair: “Those trap shooters are talented, but I can’t watch 25 rounds of it. The most fun was sitting and watching all the athletes march into the Olympic Stadium at the Opening Ceremonies as we were one of the last to go in.” U.S. assistant coach David Vanole: “I’ve been editing so much darn game video tape, I haven’t had time to watch any of the events.” Nikki Serlenga: “My highlights were taking pictures with Marion Jones and (Kentucky basketball coach) Tubby Smith at the Opening Ceremonies. They were both so nice.”
