Bobby Convey scored twice as the U.S. U-23 national team beat Canada, 2-0, Feb. 5 and earned a spot in the CONCACAF Olympic qualifying semifinals. The semifinal winners qualify for this summer's Olympic Games in Greece.

Whether the USA finishes first or second in Group A will be determined by its game on Saturday against Honduras, which beat Panama, 3-1. (live on closed-circuit at 2 pm ET.)

A tie against Honduras would give the USA first place on goals scored (USA: 6 goals for-3 goals against; Honduras 4-1).

Against Canada, Landon Donovan assisted on both goals by Convey, who also scored twice in the USA's 4-3 opening win over Panama.

Each team had four players cautioned and Canada's Adam Braz was ejected (72nd minute) in the game that eliminated the Canadians, who opened with a 1-0 loss to Honduras, from contention.

Convey's first goal, in the 29th minute, came on a counterattack following a series of passes by Chris Wingert, DaMarcus Beasley and Donovan.

The second, in the 71st minute, was set up by Donovan after he received long diagonal ball from midfielder Eddie Gaven. Donovan beat an offside trap on a breakway before feeding Convey for the finish.

In addition to Gaven, four other players — defender Ricky Lewis, midfielders Logan Pause and Brian Carroll and forward David Testo — saw their first action of the tournament against Canada.

Goalkeeper Doug Warren and defender David Stokes are the only players on the 20-man U.S. roster who didn't see action in the first two games.
