REJUVENATED BY TRADES: Mamadou Diallo celebrated his trade to the MetroStars from New England by netting the equalizer in his new team's 1-1 tie with Kansas City. Diallo scored on a short-range left-footed shot set up by a combination from Tab Ramos and Andy Williams, who arrived from New England in the same trade. Diego Serna who arrived in New England in the Diallo trade — and like Diallo had only one goal to his name before the trade — also struck for his new squad. Serna's goal was a beauty: He stormed into the Los Angeles penalty area on a one-two with his former Miami teammate Jim Rooney and chipped the ball over keeper Matt Reis from inside the goal area. Serna (1998-2002) and Diallo (2000-2002) have notched 54 and 37 regular-season goals, respectively. GOAL OF THE WEEK. Rookie Kelly Gray, 21, took a pass from Peter Nowak on the midfield line. He sprinted between two converging foes at midfield during a 30-yard sprint. Before the San Jose backline reacted, he launched a 25-yard shot into the top right corner of the goal. It marked the Project-40 player's second goal of the year and earned Chicago a 1-1 tie. LATE STRIKE: Serious second-half injuries to Columbus' Mike Clark and Dallas' Ryan Suarez forced referee Michael Kennedy to add 10 minutes of stoppage time. Dallas' Chad Deering exploited goalmouth confusion to hit the equalizer in the 99th minute of play. The game was stretched out even longer when lightening forced a 46-minute delay between the two five-minute overtime periods. Neither team scored in OT for a 1-1 outcome.
