Los Angeles coach Frank Yallop has brought in left back Ante Jazic, who played for Yallop when he was at the helm of the Canadian national team that failed to qualify for the 2006 World Cup. Jazic arrives from Russian club Kuban Krasnodar.

''[He] will bring some much-needed composure and bite to the position,'' said L.A. president Alexi Lalas, who joked, ''It's a pity he's Canadian, but I guess nobody's perfect, eh?''

Jazic, 30, played for Ausrtia's Rapid Vienna before joining Kuban Krasnodar to seasons ago. He's also played in the Croatian league and has made 15 appearances for Canada.

Fernando Clavijo, MLS's only Hispanic head coach, has re-signed with the Colorado Rapids through 2008. Clavijo, a Uruguayan native who played for the USA at the 1994 World Cup, is in his second season with Colorado. Colorado finished 13-13-6 in 2005 and reached the semifinals. The Rapids are currently 8-7-4 and third place in the West.
