Real Salt Lake acquired veteran U.S. defender Eddie Pope from the MetroStars. Chicago traded forward Ante Razov to Columbus for defender Tony Sanneh. Chicago also landed Honduran Samuel Caballero, one of the CONCACAF regionÆs top defenders in recent years.
In exchange for Pope, a 31-year-old veteran of the last two World Cups and a three-time MLS champ with D.C. United before playing two seasons for the MetroStars, the MetroStars receive an allocation and either Real Salt Lake's highest ranked second-round pick in the 2006 MLS SuperDraft or a swap of first-round picks in Fridays 2005 MLS Supplemental Draft.
Caballero, 30, has played in the Honduran league, in the top two tiers of the Italian league, and most recently in Uruguay.
World Cup 2002 veteran Sanneh, who won two MLS titles with D.C. United before spending six seasons in Germany, returned to MLS last season.
Ante Razov has been in MLS since its inception in 1996, spending two years with Los Angeles before a seven-year stint with Chicago, for which he is the all-time leading scorer with 76 goals. He also spent half a season in the Spanish Second Division.
