AC Milan completed the signing of U.S. international Oguchi Onyewu this week on a free transfer from Belgian club Standard Liege. Italian daily La Gazzetta dello Sport on Thursday reports the 27-year-old defender will fly to Italy’s fashion capital at the start of next week to undergo a routine medical with the Rossoneri before finalizing his transfer and meeting his teammates.

After resuming a brief summer vacation, Onyewu may re-join his new team when it lands in America as part of its summer tour. Milan will play the Los Angeles Galaxy on July 19 at the Home Depot Center and then head to the East Coast for three games in the World Football Challenge.

The Rossoneri will face Club America on July 22 in Atlanta. Milan could unveil Onyewu in its next two games against Chelsea in Baltimore on July 24 and then against hometown rivals Inter Milan July 26 in Boston, reports SI.com.
