Las Aguilas (the Eagles) of Club America, who have won a record 13รก Mexican league titles, face UAG Tecos (Owls) in the two-leg final of Mexican Clausura championship.
UAG, Guadalajara's third most popular team after Chivas and Atlas, has won the title just once, in 1994, which also marked its only final appearance. UAG finished last in Apertura 2004 season.
UAG is coached by Daniel Guzman, who played three games for MLS's San Jose in 1997.
Since Mexico adopted the split season format in 1996, Club America, Mexico's richest team, has won the title just once, in 2002.
Club America, led by attacker Cuauhtemoc Blanco, is on an 11-game unbeaten streak and downed Cruz Azul, 6-2 on aggregate, in the semifinals.
Club America finished third in the overall standings, behind second-place Cruz Azul and first-place Morelia, which UAG, fourth in the overall standings, defeated in the semis.
Club America will be without its Brazilian leading scorer Kleber Boas (15 goals), who received a three-game ban for kicking Cruz Azul's Federico Lussenhoff in the crotch.
UAG's attack is led by Argentine Daniel Luduena and Brazilian Eliomar Marcon.
