East Tennessee State will add a men's soccer program starting in 2008.
ETSU, in its second year as a member of the Atlantic Sun Conference since moving from the Southern Conference, hopes to have a club program in place for the 2007 season.
The construction of a new soccer complex is part of a $104 million project for the construction of facilities for the Bucs' athletic programs.
ETSU, which has women's soccer, would become only the second Division I men's program in Tennessee. Memphis is a perennial contender in the Conference USA.
The only Division I school to add men's soccer as a varsity program in the last decade was Michigan in 2000.
