Mike Grey Rockport, Maine. Recently I have been given the opportunity to send a group of players to England on a tournament package. My question to you is about fundraising: What are some creative ways to raise a rather large sum of money to help with cost of this trip? (It will cost approximately $1,800 per player.) I would hate to deprive a player of this experience because of money. Mike Woitalla: For a start, go to the Soccer America Yellow Pages by clicking the icon on the right column of our home page. Then type in “fundraising” after the “keyword” search slot. You’ll find a few fundraising firms there that have Web sites and offer free brochures. You may be able to get some ideas through them. I would also suggest you contact some big youth clubs in your area in hopes that they have experience with successful fundraising. If you go to www.soccermaine.com you’ll find links to clubs in your state and directories of United Soccer Federation of Maine personnel. Some of them are certain to have advice on fundraising.
