English second division club Reading has confirmed that U.S. national team midfielder Bobby Convey, 25, has left the club.

“It hasn’t worked out recently, but he will always have a place in our history,” Reading’s Director of Football Nick Hammond said. Convey’s agent, Dan Segal, said the player has “been approached by a number of MLS teams who have inquired about [Convey’s] level of interest in returning. At this point, he is just listening, and not making any decisions.”

A number of media reports earlier this week suggested that Convey, who joined Reading from D.C. United in 2004, is on the verge of signing for the San Jose Earthquakes.
