Déjà vu threatened to cast a pall early over Real Madrid’s derby match against Atletico Sunday at the Bernabeu as Miguel Mista benefitted from some porous defending to put Atletico up 1-0 after 6 minutes. After a few other early scares, the Real defense was able to organize itself and then Raul leveled after 37 minutes, but any hopes of a full comeback were dashed after Sergio Ramos was sent off for a second bookable offense after 63 minutes. David Beckham once again started on the bench, as did Ronaldo. Meanwhile, Barcelona was able to complete a full comeback, beating Athletic Bilbao 3-1 at La Catedral. With Samuel Eto’o injured, Eidur Gudjohnsen started up front. He set up the equalizer for Carles Puyol on the stroke of halftime and then stabbed home the game-winner after 61 minutes. Argentine Javier Saviola added a third 16 minutes later, scoring his first for the club in more than two years. Second-place Valencia hammered Gimnastic 4-0 at home, with two goals from David Villa and one each from Fernando Morientes and Miguel Angulo.
