Liverpool is loving life after Tuesday’s 4-0 rout of La Liga leaders Real Madrid in the Champions League at Anfield, while brimming with confidence ahead of Saturday’s top-of-the-standings showdown with Manchester United at Old Trafford.

"This is the best way to approach the Manchester United game," said Reds coach Rafa Benitez, according to ESPN Soccernet. "When you have an important game coming up and the players are playing this well and scoring four goals against a team like Real Madrid, you have to be pleased.”

The result over Real went a long way toward delivering the Reds the respect Benitez suggested recently that they had not been given for their European successes, while also dispelling Benitez’s reputation as a defensive coach. But all that said, a victory on Saturday is perhaps more important, as it would put Liverpool just four points back from ManU.
