Spanish giant Barcelona is considering a sister team in Miami, according to broadcaster  Univision. It reported that Barcelona’s president, Joan Laporta, has traveled to Florida to meet with MLS officials and local businessmen to discuss the “Barcelona USA” project, but there is as yet no timetable in place.

Barcelona has played several preseason tours in the U.S., although the crowd for its game with RB New York at the Meadowlands last month was considerably down compared with previous visits. Like many of its European counterparts, the team is popular thanks to TV coverage of La Liga and the Champions League, and has been adopted by many U.S. fans who display their loyalty by wearing the team’s expensive replica jerseys.
