Chicago Fire attacker Chris Rolfe has agreed to terms with Aalborg of the Danish SuperLiga. The 26-year-old will make the move when the transfer window opens in January. Although the Fire opened negotiations with Rolfe in hopes of keeping him in Chicago, Fire technical director Frank Klopas said he understands Rolfe's decision to leave. "We knew he was going to have some great opportunities," Klopas said. "He is a talented player. I know he wants to have that experience. He's at the age where if he doesn't make this move now, he might not have this opportunity again."
Rolfe has played five seasons for the Fire. His 35 career goals rank second in club history behind Ante Razov, who scored 76 times for the Fire. Rolfe has scored five times this season with one assist. Rolfe also has 10 caps with the U.S. national team. At Aalborg, Rolfe will join 2008 Hermann Trophy winner and former Wake Forest star, Marcus Tracy, who joined the club this year.
