At the third attempt, Scotland has persuaded Argentina to play a friendly game at Hampden Park in Glasgow next month.
The first request fell through when Argentina demanded 100 percent of the gate money and television revenue. The Scottish Football Association didn’t go for that at all. Then the SFA polled its own fans to see if they would be prepared to pay vastly inflated ticket prices for the privilege of watching Messi, Tevez et al. Well, at least they asked. The canny fans said thanks, but no thanks.
Now the Argentines have lowered their financial demands and the game will take place Nov. 19. The most expensive ticket will be $62, the same as for Scotland’s World Cup home qualifier against Norway later this month.
