Striker Andriy Shevchenko, who cost Chelsea $55 million from AC Milan this summer, has expressed doubt over his long-term future at Stamford Bridge. He has scored just five goals in close to 20 matches for the Sky Blues, a rate of return that’s lead to many in the British press calling for his head. Shevchenko fears that Jose Mourinho could send the 30-year old Ukraine forward off on loan, possibly to his old club AC Milan, which is in desperate need of a goal-scoring striker. Sheva maintains that he feels comfortable at Chelsea, but “unfortunately, my game doesn’t suit Mourinho,” the striker told the Daily Mirror. As for a move, “everyone has been writing about me being sent on loan to Milan,” he said, adding that management still hasn’t decided what to do. The press, of course, has been strongly suggesting that a loan move would land Shevchenko back at the San Siro for the remainder of the season. The Ukrainian concedes that he isn’t enjoying the best run of form, nor is he having an easy time adapting to the English game, but he insists, “I have nothing to prove to anybody. Everybody already knows what Andriy Shevchenko is capable of.” Even so, the striker laments that “all [club owner Roman Abramovich] could do was insist on a loan deal instead of me being sold.” Should he move back to Milan in the short term, Shevchenko says his family would stay in London, where they have started a new life, as the striker is determined to remain with Chelsea long-term.
