[AMERICANS ABROAD] Kenny Cooper‘s first practice with 1860 Munich attracted more than 400 fans, a crowd far higher than usual at a training session by the German second division club, according to newspaper Bild, which reported that “Super Cooper managed to perform despite the jetlag.”
Bild quoted Coach Ewald Lienen as joking, “It’s clear that there are so many here. They’re happy. Better that an ‘Ami’ comes than the Russians are coming.”
Bild said that despite it being 3 am for Cooper instead of 10 am considering the time difference between Texas, where Cooper had been playing for FC Dallas, he gave his best.
“I’m very impressed,” said the 24-year-old. “Of course I know that the fans have high expectations and I’ll try my best to make them happy.”
