Texas, ranked No. 11 in this week’s Soccer America Top 25, suffered a huge blow when Stephanie Logterman, whom Longhorns coach Chris Petrucelli called the best left back in the country, was lost for the remainder of the 2007 season due to a knee injury.
Logterman, a former standout on the U.S. under-19 women’s national team, injured her right knee in the second half of the Oklahoma State-Texas match on Oct. 26 in Stillwater.
In the Longhorns’ first game without Logterman, they beat Colorado, 4-1, in their Big 12 regular-season title. Houston transfer Courtney Gaines moved to the backline from her midfield position in the first half. Leslie Imber played in the back in the second half.
Prior to her injury, Logterman started all 17 matches for Texas, ranked No. 1 in the country a month ago. She was tied for second on the team in assists with five.
