Need a yardstick to measure the success of first-year MLS club Toronto FC? How about this: the 2007 season isn’t even over and yet the expansion franchise on Monday announced that it had sold out of season seats for the 2008 MLS season. Sales were capped at 16,000, surpassing last season’s 14,000. More seats were set aside due to an increased demand for tickets after the inaugural season.

“We continue to be amazed by the support from our fans,” Toronto FC Director of Business Paul Beirne said. “We felt the need to increase our season seat base to help accommodate the demand, and while we raised the number of season seats, we are still intent on keeping our commitment to youth soccer clubs, and groups who still want to be part of game day at BMO Field by keeping an allocated number of seats available for them.”
