New Zealand, already out of contention after losses to the USA and Uruguay, eliminated Poland, leaving Uruguay and the USA to battle for first place of Group A. The group winner faces Mexico, which upset Spain, 1-0, to take second place in Group B. Ghana finished atop Group B and will face the Group A runner-up. The USA, with an inferior goal difference to Uruguay’s, needs a win against Uruguay to finish first in Group A.
