UNDER-19 WOMEN'S WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP: Americans advance with 1-0 win over Spain

The United States moved into the quarterfinals of the U-19 Women's World Championship with a perfect record after edging Spain, 1-0, Thursday in Phuket, Thailand.

The win, thanks to a first-half goal from Jessica Rostedt, gave the Americans first place in Group C and a date with Australia Sunday in Chung Mai (kickoff: 7:45 am. ET).

Spain, the surprise winner of this year's European U-19 title, outshot the Americans, 16-11, but could not get the equalizer it needed to advance.
