The United States opened play in the Under-19 Women's World Championship with a 3-0 victory over South Korea Thursday in front of almost 10,000 fans at Sarakul Stadium in Phuket, Thailand.
Angie Woznuk and Amy Rodriguez scored in the first half just two minutes apart and Sheree Gray added a clinching goal in the 72nd minute.
Woznuk, the U.S. attacking midfielder, sliced apart the Koreans, and the Americans got a stellar defensive effort by center backs Becky Sauerbrunn and Rachel Buehler.
The USA will play its second Group C match against Russia on Sunday, Nov. 14, back at Sarakul Stadium.
