The United States qualified for the Under-17 World Cup in Trinidad & Tobago this September with a 4-0 win over El Salvador. The United States has now qualified for a record ninth straight U-17 World Cup. John Ellinger’s Americans won their third straight game to win their CONCACAF qualifying group. The U-17s’ two MLS players combined for all four goals. The Dallas Burn’s Ed Johnson had a hat trick (scoring with his right foot, left foot and head) and D.C. United’s Santino Quaranta added the fourth goal. Johnson now has 19 goals in 18 international matches. Quaranta had a second goal on a penalty late in the game called back. His second penalty was saved by the Salvadoran keeper, but that attempt was also replayed. Quaranta’s third attempt struck the post.
