Claudio Reyna (Glasgow Rangers, PL) vs. Ross County, 2-1. Started: 90 minutes. Reyna’s first-half goal held up as the difference, but only after Rangers’ goalkeeper Stefan Klos made a superb diving save on Ian Maxwell’s penalty kick in the 90th minute. Ross County, struggling near the bottom of the Scottish First Division, gave Premiership Rangers a surprisingly nervous ending, scoring in the 89th minute, then going up a man when defender Lorenzo Amoruso was sent off in the 90th. Shota Ardveladze opened the scoring for Rangers in the 15th minute and when Ronald de Boer flicked on Michael Ball’s 32nd-minute throw in, it fell to Reyna, who had most of the goal to shoot at and did not miss.

Brad Friedel (Blackburn, PL) vs. Manchester City, 2-0. Started: 90 minutes. After the game, Manchester City coach Kevin Keegan blasted referee Uriah Rennie, who sent off Martinique-born midfielder Christian Negouai in the 26th minute. “Don’t talk about the game, talk about Uriah Rennie – that’s what he likes and he’s always been the same,” Keegan said. “‘I don’t care what it costs me, I’ll give the FA a tape of the game and let them make up their own minds. … It was shocking refereeing. You have got to have common sense. Obviously he didn’t have enough common sense for the Premiership, that’s why he’s now down in the other divisions.”
