Overseas leagues were idle this week due to qualifying matches for the European championships. American goalkeeper Jonny Walker, playing with Universidad Catolica in the Chilean first division, was knocked unconcious during his team's 1-1 draw with Universidad de Chile.
* Jonny Walker (Universidad Catolica, D1) vs. Universidad de Chile, 1-1.
Started: 72 minutes. With the score already tied in the 72nd minute, Catolica defender Cristian Alvarez fouled Mauricio Pinilla as Walker came out to challenge. Pinella and Walker collided violently, with Walker's head meeting the striker's shoulder. Walker left the game on a board with a neck brace and later was diagnosed with a concussion. He will miss at least one match.
Remarkably, since Catolica had already used its three substitutions in the game, Alvarez borrowed Walker's gloves and managed to save the penalty kick he had caused.
