ENGLAND
* Brad Friedel (Blackburn, PL) vs. Leeds, 1-0 Started: 90 minutes. Friedel stopped Alan Smith's flubbed penalty kick midway through the second half to secure the victory, Blackburn's second of the season. Friedel also slapped away Nick Barmby's chip attempt in the second half.
* Kasey Keller (Tottenham, PL) at Manchester United, 0-1. Started: 90 minutes. Keller thwarted the hosts throughout the match, but could not stop Ruud van Nistelrooy's penalty kick in the 63rd minute. Among Keller's best saves were a David Beckham free kick and a fierce volley by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
* Joe-Max Moore (Everton, PL) at Aston Villa, 2-3. DNP – injured.
* Jovan Kirovski (Birmingham, PL) at Middlesbrough, 0-1. Entered as a substitute: 81st minute. Kirovski's first action of the season — and first in the Premier League — came after a lengthy delay in obtaining his work permit. Kirovski threatened to knot the game just seconds after coming on, but his low drive was saved by Middlesbrough goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer.
* Claudio Reyna (Sunderland, PL) at Newcastle, 0-2. Started: 90 minutes. This loss to its bitter rival especially stung Sunderland because it carried the Black Cats losing streak to three games — with a combined score of 8-0. Reyna, however, had another strong match in central midfield and created his team's best chances.
* Marcus Hahnemann (Reading, D1) at Wolverhampton, 1-0. Started: 90 minutes. Hahnemann's clearance helped set up Andy Hughes' goal in the 58th minute. Former New England Revolution goalkeeper Ian Feuer sat on the bench for Wolverhampton.
* Eddie Lewis (Preston North End, D1) at Derby, 2-0. Entered as a substitute: 56th minute. Derby played the entire second half a man down becuase of Warren Barton's red card in first-half injury time.

* Earnie Stewart (NAC, D1) vs. Twente Enschede, 2-0. Entered as a substitute: 66th minute. Stewart scored the clinching goal in the 79th minute. It was Stewart's first goal of the season. NAC Breda sits in fifth place in Holland's top division.

NORWAY

CHILE
* Jonny Walker (Universidad Catolica, D1) at San Felipe, 2-1. Started: 90 minutes. After three weeks of striking because of issues including unpaid wages within many clubs in the league, the professional player's union finally worked out a deal with the league. Last weeks games were played, but with youth players from the clubs. Cat=lica won last week 3-0 against Rangers at home (with all youth players). This week, Cat=lica controlled the majority of the match on a bumpy field. Walker played a very solid match, making numerous saves.
HONDURAS
* David Castellanos (Motagua, D1) at Salzburgo, 2-1. DNP. Montagua moved into third place with the win.
