The U.S. national futsal team placed third at the Mundialito tournament in Brazil. After opening with a win and a draw, the U.S. rallied from a 4-2 deficit to upend Belgium 5-4. St. Louis Ambush forward Mark Moser had a hat trick, including the gamewinning goal on a penalty kick with two seconds to play. Rusty Troy and Franklin McIntosh also scored. The U.S. needed a win or a draw against host Brazil to advance to the final, but were beaten 12-2. The loss, coupled with Argentina’s victory over Italy, meant the Americans had to settle for third place. Brazil then edged Argentina 3-1 to win the tournament.
