U.S. defender David Regis will not be available for the USA-Argentina match on June 13 at RFK Stadium in Washington, D.C. after undergoing minor knee surgery May 28. The French-based Regis, who became an American citizen just over a year ago, injured his left knee while playing with his club team, FC Metz in February. Team doctors advised him to undergo the surgery, which removed loose cartilage from the knee. The operation was a same-day procedure and Regis is already undergoing physical therapy with the FC Metz medical staff. He could still see action with the U.S. national team later in the summer at the Confederations Cup. U.S. coach Bruce Arena’s will announce his final training camp squad for the USA-Argentina match later this week.
