U.S. National Team: Roster for June 4 friendly vs. Paraguay

The following is the 17-man roster called in by U.S. coach Steve Sampson for the USA-Paraguay friendly to be played June 4 in St. Louis.

Goalkeepers — Brad Freidel, Juergen Sommer.

Defenders — Jeff Agoos, Marcelo Balboa, Mike Burns, Thomas Dooley, Alexi Lalas, Eddie Pope, Dante Washington.

Midfielders — Chad Deering, John Harkes, Michael Mason, Claudio Reyna, Mike Sorber.

Forwards — Roy Lassiter, David Wagner, Eric Wynalda.

Sampson will experiment with Dante Washington as a defender. The Dallas Burn star was a member of the 1992 Olympic team and played with many of the current national team players in Barcelona…. Sampson expects to add one more player to the roster…. Five players will miss the match due to injury: Cobi Jones (hamstring), Kasey Keller (elbow surgery), Brian McBride (ankle), Joe-Max Moore (groin), and Tab Ramos (knee)…. Ernie Stewart will not be available, as he is getting married in the Netherlands on June 6…. Less than 2,000 tickets remain for the match, which will be played at the Anheuser-Busch Conference and Sports Centre in Fenton, Mo.
