The Wilmington Hammerheads of the Pro Select League pulled one of the biggest upsets in the history of the U.S. Open Cup when they crushed MLS's Dallas Burn, 4-1, Wednesday night at Legion Sports Complex in Wilmington, N.C.

The Burn took the lead in the 11th minute on a goal by Joselito Vaca, but Wilmington evened the score 20 minutes later on a goal by Jeff Johnson. The Hammerheads pulled away with three goals in the second half, Kevin Nylen's winner and Glenn Murray's insurance goals.

The Hammerheads will host MLS's D.C. United, a 1-0 winner in overtime over the A-League's Virginia Beach Mariners on Hristo Stoitchkov's goal.

The MetroStars came back from a 2-0 deficit after the 12th minute and a 3-1 halftime disadvantage to beat the Columbus Crew, 4-3, in an all-MLS matchup. Eddie Pope scored the equalizer in the 77th minute and the winner in the 86th minute.

MLS clubs New England, Chicago and Los Angeles all had to overcome early deficits to put away from USL opposition.

Taylor Twellman and Steve Ralston both scored in the Revolution's 2-1 win over the Rochester Rhinos of the A-League. After a 45-minute weather delay due to lightning, the Fire topped Milwaukee Wave United (A-League), 4-1, in Milwaukee. The PDL's Fresno Fuego had its run ended with a 3-1 loss to the Los Angeles Galaxy.
