''I'm very happy to get the victory. A lot of good things came out of tonight's game. But you saw some players who haven't been playing [professionally] on a regular basis, who know that they can do a little bit better with regards to the final pass and finishing. While we scored six goals, we really could have easily been pretty far into double digits with a little more decisiveness and quality in terms of the finish.''
On standout players for the U.S.:
''I thought Kyle (Beckerman) and Bobby (Convey) totally dominated the midfield in the game and did very very well. Chris Wingert was very very steady at left back. D.J. Countess only had a couple things to do and did them well to come off his line a couple times. I think overall we were pretty solid, but really we didn't have the professional approach to finishing that we should have.''
On what worked well offensively:
''We beat the offside trap a bunch of times. Pretty much any time Ricky Lewis or Chris Wingert pushed up from their fullback position to support the attack and made two versus one on the flank, they struggled to deal with that. We had some nice combination play on the right with Lewis and Ricardo Clark and on the left with Wingert and Eddie Johnson, and between the four of them, we got a lot of good crosses; we just need to do a better job of finishing them.''
On the second leg:
''The plan is to not take our foot off the gas, and to improve. We should thoroughly expect to win the game, it's the manner in which we do it. Since our time together is limited, we need to maximize that preparation time. I fully expect us to come with a very thorough, professional approach and score even more goals than we did today.''
