Three members of the WUSA champion Caroline Courage were called up for the U.S. training camp four days before the Americans face Scotland Sept. 8 at Columbus Crew Stadium (kickoff: 1pm; TV: ESPN, live).

Danielle Slaton, Tiffany Roberts and Danielle Fotopoulos were among the 24 players called up by Coach April Heinrichs.

Defender Christie Pearce, who started all five games at the 2000 Olympics, gets her first call-up since suffering an ACL tear at the end of the 2001 WUSA season.

Heinrichs named just two college players to the roster: UCLA defender Nandi Pryce and University of Washington goalkeeper Hope Solo. Pryce, who has come back from a broken leg, and Solo were key players for the U-21 team that won the Nordic Cup in July. North Carolina defender Cat Reddick and Santa Clara midfielder Aly Wagner will not travel to Columbus but are expected to be key members of the U.S. team that begins World Cup 2003 qualifying at the Gold Cup in late October.

Veterans Tiffeny Milbrett and Joy Fawcett were not called in due what was termed ''commitments during the WUSA offseason.''
