The U.S. under-17 national team will face off against the Haitian under-17 national team on Saturday, April 28 immediately following the Miami Fusion’s home match against the New England Revolution. The United States comes into the match fresh off its recent qualification for the 2001 FIFA Under-17 World Championship taking place this summer in Trinidad & Tobago. The team has posted eight straight victories on the international scene, and won its qualification group with a perfect record of 3-0 while outscoring opponents 10-3 in a group that consisted of Canada, El Salvador and Jamaica. “This doubleheader will allow fans of South Florida soccer to enjoy two quality games in one sitting,” said Fusion executive general manager and vice president Doug Hamilton. “Not only will fans be able to enjoy the excitement of MLS, but they will also have the opportunity to see the brightest young stars on the international scene as well.” The Haiti under-17 national team is the best the country has seen in years. The team is using the friendly as a tune-up match before their final group qualification begins. Among the teams in the Haitian qualifying group are Mexico, Honduras and Costa Rica. Tickets for the doubleheader are still available by calling 1-888-FUSION-4, or at local TicketMaster outlets.
