Only one American woman saw action in Europe last weekend, with former UCLA defender Tracey Winzen playing 90 minutes in VfL Wolfsburg's 1-0 German League victory over visiting SC Freiburg.

Claudia Mueller's 20th-minute goal carried Wolfsburg (6-8-2) to its first victory in five games and second in eight matches. The win, in Wolfsburg's first home game since April 14, snapped a three-game losing streak.

FFC Turbine Potsdam, featuring Nancy and Julie Augustyniak, fell four points behind Frauen-Bundesliga leader FFC Frankfurt after its match Sunday at FSV Frankfurt was postponed because of German national team call-ups. No makeup date has been announced. FFC Frankfurt routed lowly Saarbruecken, 5-0, with former WUSA stars Sandra Minnert and Birgit Prinz scoring goals. Prinz has 14 goals this season, second to Kerstin Garefrekes' 19 with FFC Heike Rheine.

Maite Zabala failed to see action again in Spain, but Athletic Bilbao took charge of the Superliga race with Sunday's 2-1 victory over visiting Sabadell. The win thrust Athletic (18-3-3) three points ahead of Sabadell and five ahead of Levante with two games remaining.
