Hope Solo leads Kopparbergs/Goteborg against Sunnana SK on Wedensday, seeking its second successive victory and a winning record heading into the Swedish League's Olympic break.
Solo, formerly with the Philadelphia Charge, posted her seventh shutout of the season in a 3-0 victory Sunday over Sjalevads to snap a six-match winless streak. After the match with Sunnana (1-7-5), fifth-place K/Goteborg (5-5-3) will be off until Sept. 4.
Malmo FF (9-1-2), captained by former Rutgers defender Denise Reddy, is four points off the Damallsvenskan lead with matches at Mallbackens IF (3-6-3) on Wednesday and home against Balinge IF (2-4-6) on Saturday before the break.
Former WUSA midfielder Venus James and Djurgarden/Alvsjo (10-0-2), one point behind league-leading Umea IK (11-1-0), is home against Linkopings FC (5-5-2) on Tuesday and plays at Karlslunds IF DFF (2-8-3) on Saturday.
There also will be midweek games involving Americans in Iceland and Finland, and Russia's FC Energy Voronezh — with former Chargge defender Jenny Benson — will seek a semifinal berth in the Russian Cup on Friday against Chertanovo. Energy is coming off a 4-1 league victory over Chertanovo.
Former Charge defender Rachel Kruze is expected to make her Landsbankadeild Kvenna debut for Iceland's IBV (4-0-2) on Thursday at Breidablik.
